A Little Background
In addition to being an avid world traveler, Ellen enjoys “thinking outside the box” whenever possible. In the spring of 2002, Ellen and her husband moved to Seattle and began the rehab of an old Craftsman house. Ellen says “my muse assisted me in this endeavor and now helps in designing my one-of-a-kind designs to which I passionately apply myself.” She is also working on completing her Graduate Gemologist degree through the Gemological Institute of America. Her knowledge and passion for colored stone gemstones can be seen in the pearl knotted/gemstone pieces featured in the precious gemstones section of this website.
Artistic Statement
In designing jewelry pieces, Ellen strives to create visual texture out of disparate elements to create a coherent whole. Her ultimate goal is to present designs that are eclectic and joyful to the eye. With multi-language skills (fluent in Spanish, conversant in French and Hebrew) and passion for travel, Ellen seeks out unusual pieces, be it Hamsas from Israel, (a traditional Middle Eastern talisman to bring good luck), exquisite Venetian glass beads, Turkish eye beads or Yemenite silver talismans from Israeli souks. Ms. Lyons has an artistic sense of blending beads together for pieces that become unique wearable works of art.
